ASTER SPECTRAL LIBRARY Ver. 2.0 README FILE

About the Spectral Library
Welcome to the ASTER spectral library. The spectral library is a collection of
spectra of natural and man made materials.

What is in the Spectral Library?
The ASTER spectral library is currently made up of three other spectral
libraries: the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) Spectral Library, the Johns
Hopkins University (JHU) Spectral Library, and the United States Geological
Survey (USGS - Reston) Spectral Library.

How are the Data organized on the CD-ROM?
The data are separated into 2 directories:
	1) DATA - this contains the spectral and ancillary data for all libraries
	2) DOCS - this contains the documents that describe the measurement
		technique and instrumentation.

In the data directory any spectral data has a filename that ends with .spectrum.txt and
the ancillary data has a filename that ends in .ancillary.txt

Each ...spectrum.txt file is in a standard format with a fixed number of header lines.
Each ...ancillary.txt file is in a raw format

The files follow a standard naming convention which is described in the preprint of the paper
by Baldridge et al. in the DOCS directory.
